February Recap, March & April Roadmap

The following blog post acts like a dev journal and also carries the personal thoughts of Elder Prince, founder of Blossomsoft Games.

Please, follow the press release section for more official news.

January and February have been a big deal for me, I’m finally back to game development! For the first time since 2020, I’ve been able to sit down at my PC and really get things moving again. Feels good. Feels right.

In February, I promised myself I’d publish biweekly micro-updates, and I stuck to it. Planning to do the same for March!

Major Challenge, But I Can Handle It

Let’s talk about the real challenge I’m facing right now, because it’s a big one. After stepping away from software and game development for years, jumping back in isn’t as simple as picking up where I left off. There’s a lot of catching up to do. My skills are rusty, the tech has moved forward, new gaming trends have taken over, and honestly? It feels like I woke up from a decade-long coma and landed in a whole new world. And let’s be real—I’m almost fifty! (but still looking in my mid-twenties, he-he)

So yeah, this isn’t an instant transition. I’m in a re-learning phase, and I expect that’ll last through March and April before I can really dive into serious development again. But you know what? I think I’m handling it pretty well so far. So I’m not even worried.

As long as money isn’t a roadblock, my goals are within reach.

Financially, I’m in a much better place than I was in 2024, and the good news is that my budget should stay steady throughout the year. That’s a huge relief.

That said, things are getting a little tense on the economic front of Canada. I try to keep politics out of this blog as much as possible, so I won’t get into the details. Let’s just say I really hope those events doesn’t hit my wallet. A full-blown recession in Québec is the last thing I want to deal with. But, well, let’s stay optimistic.

Music will be at the heart of Blossomsoft in 2025

One big reason I’ve never felt super motivated to show trailers is that I’ve always wanted to feature my own music in them. Music has been a huge part of my life. I actually did it full-time for several years back in the ’90s and early 2000s.

I’ve always been a die-hard fan of the Yamaha PSR series, working my way through a lineup of keyboards: PSR-215, PSR-730, PSR-2000, PSR-S910… and if my finances keep improving, I’m hoping to upgrade to the latest PSR-SX920.

My music production room.

Music isn’t just a side thing for me, it’s the heart and soul of Eternal Eden and something I’m deeply invested in.

That’s why, in the coming weeks, I’m focusing on the sound engine of my game editor. My goal? To create a full soundtrack for Eternal Eden, fully edited without ugly compromises.

Back in 2012, I picked up the PSR S910 digital workstation and started composing a ton of music drafts for Eternal Eden Reboot (formerly known as E:EE). So far, I’ve got around 20 tracks.

But there’s always been a roadblock. Arranging MIDI tracks directly on the keyboard is a nightmare, and I’ve never liked working with Sonar/Cakewalk’s clunky interface. I’ve yet to find a MIDI piano roll that fits my workflow. The reason I co-created Stagsi is because it reflects how tasks can be done fast and efficiently, so I want to build something similar for my music modules, commands that seamlessly controls my PSR S910 and lets me assemble tracks without pain. I don’t need a full-blown recording studio; this is about video game music, not band production. And I know it’s a doable goal.

Conclusion

So, at some point in 2025, I plan to finally share the music of Eternal Eden. And once that’s out in the open, I know it’ll push me to start sharing gameplay footage and trailers as well.

    Cool.
Somehow I didn’t realize you lived in Canada :P

Also the question that comes to mind with the stuff you’re making for music, would this ever be available for others to mess with (like on github or whatever) ?

Yup, I live in Canada, Quebec to be more accurate. It used to be one of the most envied places to live, but now it feels like we’re heading toward a USSR-style atmosphere. And no, Trump has nothing to do with it; our current leaders are criminals.

I might decide to share some of my tools or scripts on GitHub later, but only after I’ve had a successful release.
