March, A Quiet Nudge Forward

The website will get an update down the line with some new game art. That’s definitely in the plans.

And yes, I’m still alive! The past few months have just been tricky health-wise. I must be more careful.

As an encouragement, I’m actually very happy with my progress throughout 2025. Most of it just hasn’t been the visible kind, though. I spent a lot of time working on a music MIDI/SYSEX engine, along with a ton of core game logic code. I also laid the groundwork for GBA development (planning a real cartridge release for EE5) and I tested the Siris graphic editor for another of the EE projects. On top of that, I created about a dozen small side tools in Visual Studio, and that’s not even counting all the tiny internal utilities. I used my time wisely. However, it’s the kind of work that doesn’t make for flashy screenshots. And since technical updates tend to turn into walls of text, I figured it was better to stay quiet than overwhelm everyone with boring tech talk. Apparently, my ultra-nerdy blog entries weren’t crowd favorites.

The visual phase is coming!

I started the year with a fresh install of the latest epic Blender 5.0. The last time I used it daily was back in 2019, when it was still version 2.79. And wow, they’ve added a lot of awesome features since then. Some of the new tools drastically speed up the workflow, so the giant jump between versions feels like a big bonus. I rely heavily on Blender to produce quality art, so this upgrade is a major deal for me.

I’ve been sculpting every day lately, focusing on environmental assets for the games. It’s worth noting that most of the past art for Eternal Eden (Ecclesia and Reboot editions) was made in Blender, so this feels like returning to familiar territory. That’s good news, really. It means the visual section of the website should start seeing more regular updates.

As for AI, I don’t plan to rely heavily on AI-generated art for my main projects. I’m not anti-AI at all, mind you. In fact, I’m probably more pro-AI than most. I just don’t want to let my own human skills fade away. I still want to put everything I’ve learned over the past decade into finishing what I started long ago. I’m fine with using AI for minor tasks like thumbnails or promotional flyers, especially if it saves time and allows me to concentrate on the core development.

Well, all in all, the Eternal Eden franchise is still very much underway.
