The following blog post acts like a diary and carries the personal thoughts of Elder Prince, founder of Blossomsoft Games.
2024 dealt another blow to my game dev ambitions, but that’s no reason to let pessimism take over.
I won’t rehash the financial troubles—I know you’re familiar with my story by now. What I want you to know is this: it’s never been about a lack of determination or procrastination. If anything, I’m more driven than ever, and I’m staying positive despite the major pitfall.
It hasn’t been all bad, though. Back in August, a generous friend helped me out by paying off my credit cards (a huge relief!). After that, I spent three months rallying to invest in utility-driven cryptos. If XRP ever hits $750 USD ($1,000 CAD) per coin, I’d finally have the financial freedom to jump back into game dev full-time. Of course, it could take years—maybe even until 2030—but there’s always the chance it happens sooner. Fingers crossed for a breakthrough in 2025!
No matter what, game dev is still my passion, and the idea of walking away forever is something I can’t bear to imagine.
2024 in Reflection
So, what did I accomplish this year? Honestly, not much in terms of game dev—but it wasn’t a wasted year.
That said, I’ve still been coming up with new ideas whenever I get the chance. I’ve jotted down so many concepts while sitting in my car during breaks between gigs. One of those is The Mandela Edition, which feels perfect in my head. The way the game will connect quests, side-quests, and new storylines is something I’m so excited to share with fans of the first game.
And then there’s the possibility of an Eternal Eden novella. Writing fantasy outside of a video game has been slow going—it feels strange, like something’s missing—but I’m experimenting. Would fans of the 2008 game even be interested in a book? I’m not sure, but I want to keep at it and see if I can make it feel authentic.
On top of that, I’ve drafted a dozen short stories—some of them could even make for cool Netflix-style content! If I can find the time to polish them in 2025, maybe I’ll try publishing a few.
2025 Roadmap
I’d love to make a big announcement about 2025 plans, but the truth is, I don’t want to set myself—or you—up for disappointment. Still, I can’t shake the feeling that better days are ahead.
Even on a broader scale, there’s reason to feel optimistic. The recession we’ve been stuck in since 2020, which has impacted so many of us, might finally be easing. If that’s the case, I’ll seize every opportunity to get back to game dev and make it count.
No matter what happens, I’m grateful for your support. You’ve stuck with me through the ups and downs, and that means the world to me.
Here’s hoping 2025 brings better days—for me and for you. Wishing you all a happy holiday season and an amazing new year!
