The following blog post carries the personal thoughts of Elder Prince, founder of Blossomsoft Games.
As we begin 2023, my personal circumstances are not as stable as I had hoped. To address this, I have decided to take on a full-time schedule including overtime with DoorDash deliveries. I won’t be available for game dev for at least until midst of February as I need to work seven days a week without any break.
Regardless of my current situation, I am determined to maintain a strong presence on my game dev blog this year. I will do my best to keep the website updated and active.
I finished beta-testing Star Tropics. I’m about to beta-test the two fire dungeons of the game for the Mandela Edition, which is a little more than halfway of the goal. It shows how a full-time job can complicate even the thinnest game dev goals.
During 2023 I also want to release Eternal Eden 5 (EE5) which is why I need to earn money to secure my budget. I’m brainstorming better alternatives to stabilize my game dev but for now doing DoorDash deliveries is my only avenue. A game such as EE2 and EE5 will require 100% of my time, otherwise they won’t be possible to finish.
During my downtime, such as wait times at restaurants or in-between deliveries, I plan to use that time to publish new blog posts, even if they are not always directly related to game progress. Your support, in the form of comments and engagement, will be greatly appreciated and will give me the motivation to keep going.
Despite the current difficulties, I remain optimistic that things will improve!
Elder.
